I didn’t really feel like doing the project today. I didn’t feel much like writing. I think I’ve been a bit low energy the last few days and also I haven’t had as much rest as I probably usually have. There was also quite a bit of background noise going on around me at the time which made it even more difficult for my brain to think. So my writing today seemed to take a long time and I didn’t have any great insights. It was mostly everyday mundane things I found myself writing about. I also wrote a few things about dreams I’ve had recently as they have been pretty bizarre and vivid recently.
I was a bit lacklustre in the way I tackled my painting this afternoon too. I squeezed colour directly on the page and created texture with a small flat brush. It did get me thinking about colour combinations though and I tried out the brown paints from my paint set which I have been thus far ignoring. This made me think of blue as my art teacher in school used to say brown and blue were a classic combination. I also used yellow ochre which seems to be becoming a favourite over the last few days. See photos of paintings below.
I didn’t really want to write this post this evening either, it’s got quite late this evening and I’m tired, my sister is here too and I’m being distracted by the television. But I’ve realised that an important part of this project is to have the discipline to continue to do it even when I don’t feel like it. I think that’s important to developing my creative process, to ‘turn up at the page’ even when the inspiration isn’t there.
